New Jumbos to arrive to Hamburg

The Port of Hamburg is preparing itself for the next generation of container ships. From 2015 a new class of vessels with a capacity of up to 19.000 Containers will come to Hamburg. These vessels measuring 400 m in length and 59 m in breath are considered to be the most challenging ships to be manoeuvred in the port. In October MTC received the order to prepare a simulation study before arrival of the first ship in order to define berthing and unberthing conditions, limitations and manoeuvring strategy. Hamburg is ready to receive these giants!

MTC has achieved an excellent reputation in recent years whenever simulation studies are required to ensure safe navigation of large vessels into port. Planning of new harbors or terminals can be supported by feasibility studies using simulators and modeling tools at MTC.
