  • the proper usage of checklists during various watchkeeping periods
  • responding to alarms, troubleshooting and corrective actions
  • bridge notification, calling the chief engineer officer
  • communication, decision making and awareness during watchkeeping
Objectives
  • to provide knowledge and skills to operate, supervise and monitor the safe operation and control of a ship’s machinery installation in accordance with provisions of section A-III/1, A-VIII/2, B-VIII/2 of the STCW 78 code as amended
  • to teach the student a thorough understanding of proper watchkeeping procedures and duties
Entry Standards
The course is aimed at, but not limited to, the following groups of people:
  • Aspiring candidates for the STCW 78 as amended Engineering Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency
  • Deck officers who wish to improve their understanding of engine room operations
Certification
On successful completion the participant will receive a MTC certificate

Engine simulator with engine room, ECR, emergency switchbord room
