Description

The aim of this course is to qualify personnel without prior experience in shipping to execute efficient surveillance of offshore windparks.

Objectives

  • Legal aspects
  • Basic principles of shipping (including but not limited to)
    • Basic knowledge of COLREGs
    • Basic knowledge of Aids to Navigation
    • Understand and use of IMO SMCP
    • Basic knowledge of relevant types of vessels, Propulsion systems, stability and bridge procedures
  • Basic principles of meteorology
  • Practical exercises with VTS simulator (including but not limited to)
    • Coordination of internal traffic
    • Monitoring of external traffic
    • Assessment of situation
    • Reaction towards unusual incidents
    • Knowledge and application of emergency response plan and reporting procedures
    • Handover of the watch

Entry standards

The course is aimed at participants who are employed or intend to be employed for the surveillance of offshore windparks. Knowledge of the english language in required. The Training O004 – Marine Radio (SCR training) should be done prior to this training.

Certification

On successful completion the participant will receive a MTC certificate
