Description
The course is practical and theoretical and consists of exercises performed on a ship handling simulator. Classroom lectures, to provide the necessary theoretical background for the exercises, are inluded. The exercises increase in complexity as the course progresses and as trainees become familiar with the manoeuvering characteristics of cruise vessels with twinscrew and pod propulsion
Objectives
  • To understand the effects of wind, current, shallow water, baks and narror channels
  • To carry out anchor maneuvers under the influence of current and wind
  • To carry out a river/canal passage
  • To carry out berting/un-berthing maneuvers with and without use of tugs
  • To establish a proper working bridge team

Masters, nautical officers
Certification
On successful completion the participant will receive a MTC certificate
