MTC has established an excellent cooperation with ABB to conduct Azipod training at our shiphandling simulators since an agreement was signed in 2015. Nowadays, most cruise ships and many other special vessels use Azipod propulsion due to its remarkable benefits for passengers and ship operations. Over more than ten years of cooperation, many cruise lines have sent their officers and captains to basic and advanced courses organised by ABB and delivered at MTC’s facilities.
To keep training standards at the highest level, MTC has invested in new equipment in 2025. Both shiphandling simulators have been fitted with new ABB levers – 3 bridges with standard ABB levers and 3 bridges with AX levers, ABB’s latest development. Thus, MTC is capable to run two Azipod courses in parallel. In both simulators, we are capable to configure the levers for 2 – POD training or 3 – POD training. The latest vessel with three Azipods to invest heavily in training is the Disney Adventure, scheduled for delivery in early 2026. This huge and unique ship will operate out of Singapore from 2026.
