Description
The course is practical and theoretical and consists of exercises performed on a ship handling simulator. Classroom lectures, to provide the necessary theoretical background for the exercises, are i n luded. The exercises increase in complexity as the course progresses and as trainees become familiar with the manoeuvering characteristics of the ship model and its response to the engine and heim in various conditions. Depending on the number and kind of participants various ship’s types can be used and the course can be tailored to individual needs.
Objectives
The following subjects will be covered:

  • To understand the effects of wind, current, shallow water, baks and narrow channels
  • To carry out anchor maneuvers under the influence of cu rrent and wind
  • To carry out a river/canal passage
  • To carry out berting/un-berthing maneuvers with and without use of tugs
  • To establish a proper working bridge team

Masters, nautical officers
Certification
On successful completion the participant will receive a MTC certificate
