Description

This course is designed for marine engineers and focuses on improving safety on board. It emphasises the human factor in marine operations and teaches effective teamwork, decision making and problem solving in an emergency. The course provides practical insights into performance and fuel optimisation for both camshaft and electronically controlled engines. The course covers the specifics of cylinder lube oil optimisation and consumption for MAN MC and ME engines. Importantly, it aims to review and improve the cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills of participants, enriching their knowledge, practical skills and values essential in marine engineering.

Objectives

This course increases safety on board by deepening knowledge of the human factor and improving teamwork, decision-making and problem-solving in emergencies. It covers practical fuel optimisation for different engine types and lube oil management for MAN engines. Participants will refine their cognitive and practical skills to improve ship safety and environmental protection.

Entry standards

The course is aimed at, but not limited to, the following groups of people:

STCW 78 as amended Certificate of Competency holders (engineering officers, electrotechnical officers, marine superintendents etc.) who wish to improve their knowledge.

Certification

On successful completion the participant will receive a certificate of MTC.
