Description

This course provides training for Masters, officers, ratings and all personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the IGF code. The course comprises an advanced training programme appropriate to the trainee’s duties on board ships subject to the IGF code. The course takes full account of Section A-V/3, paragraph 2 of the STCW Code and IMO Model Course 7.14.

Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide knowledge and skills to contribute to safe operation of ships subject to the IGF code and to demonstrate the competence in safety for ships using gases or other low-flashpoint fuels, as set out in table A-V/3-2 of the STCW Code.

Entry standards

Holding a valid certificate of proficiency in basic training for service on liquefied gas tankers in accordance with Regulation V/1-2 (1, 2) of the annex to the STCW Convention; or holding a valid certificate of Proficiency in basic training for service on ships subject to the IGF Code in accordance the Regulation V/3 (4) of the annex to the STCW Convention.

Certification

BSH approved MTC Certificate certifying that the holder has met the applicable standard of competence specified in table A-V/3-2 of the STCW Code.
