Description
This course provides training for officers who are assigned the duty of „safety officer“ onboard. The safety officer will, in close cooperation with the master, improve the ship‘s safety standard and assist in risk assessment. He will report any deficiencies immediately to the Master.
Objectives
The following Subjects will be covered:
  • carry out the ship‘s safety inspection and complete the monthly safety report
  • arrange and chair the ship‘s safety meetings and complete the required minutes of the meeting
  • as part of the management team assist the senior officers in „risk assessment“
  • carry out accident investigation and compile the necessary reports
  • investigate and record every reported „near miss“
Entry Standards
Seafarers who have completed a shorebased adv. FF Course and hold a STCW Certificate
Certification
On successful completion the participant will receive a MTC certificate
